SIJO’s Temp-Regulating Sheets Are a Dream

I’m high maintenance in bed.

That’s right – I have very specific needs when it comes to my sleep. You might even call me difficult. Here are just a few of my non-negotiables:

  • I must be enveloped in soothing sound (a perfectly calibrated mix of white noise machine, fan on high, and – weather depending – AC blasting)
  • 65 degrees is the ideal sleep temp (68 degrees is the absolute max – I won’t hear any argument to the contrary)
  • Earplugs (I know, I know – then what’s the point of the aforementioned soundscape? Trust me, there is a system at work)
  • Air purifier (I’m sensitive to allergens; it’s also nice that the machine makes noise)
  • A lavender sachet tucked under my pillow (for relaxation and inner peace)

The most important one? Luxurious, hotel-quality sheets that keep me cool. Because I’m not only a high maintenance sleeper – I’m also a very, very sweaty one. Luckily, I’ve started sleeping on SIJO: their AiryWeight eucalyptus sheets are absurdly soft and made to satisfy even the fussiest among us.

Eucalyptus vs Cotton (aka, Everything I Thought I Knew Was a Lie)

Now seems like a good time to tell you that, until I discovered SIJO, I had very average sheets.

Moi, a finicky little sleep snob? It’s true. I had been gifted some Amazon-brand sheets a few years ago and I was so used to them, I hadn’t let myself consider that they weren’t optimal. I knew that they were super soft and comfy; the worn, familiar feel of the long-staple cotton reminded me of sleeping in my childhood bed.

I also knew that I was waking up almost every morning damp with sweat. But it couldn’t possibly be my sheets’ fault. They were 100% cotton!

I was under the all-too-common misconception that Cotton is King. We as a society seem to be obsessed with Egyptian cotton; it’s supposedly the softest and most breathable material – especially when you’re talking high thread count (700+). But as I started to grow dissatisfied with my sheets and curious about other options, I learned what SIJO fans have known for years: it’s really all about Eucalyptus.

@SIJOHome

SIJO’s signature AiryWeight sheets are made from TENCEL™ Lyocell – which, according to their website, is the fancy term for eucalyptus fibers. That sounds scratchy and uncomfortable, you might be thinking – or maybe I’m projecting here. Personally, as I embarked on a quest to find the perfect sheets, I was dubious about sharing the sleep habitat of a koala. Anything that could be described as “fibrous” felt like the opposite of luxury.

Spoiler: SIJO Was Right, I Was Wrong

I’ve always loved the serene feeling of all-white bedding. But, staring at SIJO’s colors – an array of moody hues like light pink “Blush” and cool blue “Sky” – I began to change my tune. I settled on the dark green “Forest,” deciding to really lean into the eucalyptus vibes. My bed would become a lush jungle. I would align myself with the natural rhythms of the earth, falling asleep at sunset and waking at sunrise, no phone alarm necessary. I could see it all. I ordered myself a king set, which included 1 fitted sheet, 1 top sheet, and 2 pillowcases for $184.50.

I’ll admit, I gulped at the steep price tag – despite my bougie ways, I’m not used to spending money on nice sheets. But I reasoned that it was a worthwhile experiment that might turn into a worthwhile investment. While I waited for my set to arrive, I did a deep dive into the alleged wonders of eucalyptus. I wasn’t yet convinced – why should I make the switch for good?

SIJO

I actually initially considered another one of SIJO’s best-selling options: the TempTune Cotton Sheet Set with CLIMA™ Tech. It felt like it would be an easier switch from my old cotton sheets. But the AiryWeight features piqued my interest, and emboldened me to imagine a whole new way to sleep... Dramatic? Maybe.

Here are some benefits that made me go, “Ooooh”:

  • Eucalyptus fiber is naturally cooling and moisture-wicking – ideal for hot sleepers. SIJO’s sheets promised to stay cool all night long, so I could sleep peacefully and not wake up sweaty
  • Eucalyptus is inherently breathable, repelling moisture-causing bacteria, mold, and fungus. SIJO adds an extra silver ionic anti-microbial treatment to repel the gross stuff that can otherwise spread
  • Unlike other materials, eucalyptus is uniquely hypoallergenic. If you’re chronically waking up stuffy and sneezy from your sheets, this is a major consideration
  • These sheets are sustainable & OEKO-TEX 100 Certified. Making eucalyptus sheets takes 1/10 of the water required for cotton sheets!

But could the AiryWeights walk the walk? Could they truly keep me cool and sweat-free and even… improve the quality of my sleep?

I had to put them to the test.

Sleeping is Believing

The first night I tried out my new sheets, I immediately felt a tactile difference from my old Sheets That Shall Not Be Named.

They were soft. Like, really soft.

I had to admit: these eucalyptus sheets were even softer than cotton.

Shocking but true. They were silky to the touch. They felt expensive! As I snuggled with my lavender pillow, I wiggled around and made snow angels in my sheets, luxuriating in the 5-star-hotel-quality smoothness until I finally drifted off to sleep…

…and woke up completely sweat free.

I didn’t even wake up during the night to kick off my covers. Nor did I have to keep flipping my pillow to try to experience the “cool side.” With AiryWeight, both sides are the cool side! Other customers mentioned this in their reviews, and they weren’t kidding. I stayed cool, dry, and solidly asleep all night long.

Cons

Color Me Converted

Fast forward to a month with my AiryWeight sheets, and I’m sleeping so much better than I ever have. I honestly didn’t realize that the material of your sheets can make that much of a difference – not only in your body temperature throughout the night, but in your overall sleep wellness. That’s on me. I swear I’ll never be apathetic or ignorant about the importance of sheets again!

I’ve always loved going to bed, but SIJO has made bedtime even more delightful. I look forward to crawling into these sheets every night and, as much of a cliché as this may be, I dread getting out of them in the morning.

This is not my dog. I don’t let my dog on my bed. @SIJOHome

Pet-Proof to Boot

Life update: I got a puppy! She is my special child and I obviously have SO many cute pics on my phone – but unfortunately none of them feature her on my SIJO sheets. Why? I don’t like letting dogs in my bed. I’m sorry! My bed is my temple! I know a lot of people have strong opinions on the topic, and I am happy to discuss more at length in a separate article, but this is about SIJO.

Anyway, if you have a pet, you have undoubtedly dealt with fur or dander collecting on sheets – even if your dog / cat / chinchilla sleeps in a separate room on the other side of your enormous cavernous mansion. Pet hair just finds a way to get.. everywhere.

But not anymore! SIJO’s AiryWeight Sheets actually repel pet hair.

I’m not entirely sure how, to be fully honest. I haven’t investigated the tech behind this. I’m perfectly satisfied knowing that I can fall asleep without one of my sweet pup’s little hairs winding up in my nostril.

Loved by Other Fussy Sleepers

What are you waiting for?

I’m seriously asking – are you hesitant to make the switch from cotton to eucalyptus? Are you coming to terms with the idea that you might want to upgrade your *current* eucalyptus sheets to some SIJO’s? Are you worried your sleep sensitivities / high maintenance ways would be too much for these AiryWeight sheets to handle?

I hear you! Sleep is such a huge part of your life, and you want to make every possible consideration when it comes to your bedding.

I’m just one person, and my experience is subjective – but luckily, SIJO has thousands of fans out there, all raving about these sheets

I’m A Cold / Regular / Low-Maintenance Sleeper… is SIJO Right For Me?

While I think the AiryWeight sheets are so heavenly they would work for all types of sleepers, SIJO makes other kinds of sheets, too!

I mentioned earlier that, when I was still in my Cotton Phase (I was so young and naïve then), I was considering these TempTune Cotton Sheets – and frankly, my heart still swells when I read “temperature-regulating CLIMA fabric.” If you prefer sleeping on cotton and want a sheet that can keep you cool or warm, depending on what your body needs in the moment, I would definitely recommend these.

Then there’s linen. I know linen is very chic and classic, but I personally have always found it a bit too thick. As a hot sleeper, I need lightweight at all costs. But if you want your bed to feel like a warm, cozy hug, consider SIJO’s LuxeWeave French Flax Linen Sheets. A lovely bonus: these sheets get softer with every wash.

Whatever your sleep preferences, you can literally rest assured that all SIJO sheets are:

  • 100% natural – no synthetic materials used, ever
  • 100% hypoallergenic
  • Extremely soft and comfy
  • Ethically and sustainably made – they are transparent about where and how they source their materials, and all products are environmentally efficient
  • Crafted to last a long time

Home Sheet Home

Suffice it to say, I am a changed woman. A Eucalyptus Empress. An AiryWeight Angel. You get it – I love my SIJO sheets! Both because they’re so incredibly comfy, and because I know they will keep my temperature regulated in the safest, most sustainable way.

So, if you don’t mind, I’ll be buying out the rest of the stock, from the newfound comfort of my bed. And I recommend you do, too.

6 Things to Love About the SIJO AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheets

  1. They’re super lightweight. These babies live up to the “AiryWeight” name! They are cloud-like, providing an incredibly gentle sleeping experience.
  2. The colors are gorgeous. If you like a little more pigment in your bedding, there’s Forest, Blush, Sky, and Storm. If you air on the neutral side, there’s the classic Snow, Fog, and Dove. Take a peek at their options to see what suits your aesthetic.
  1. Eucalyptus is sustainable. TENCEL™ Lyocell is made from trees that require less water to grow than cotton, and that don’t need a large amount of surface area to thrive. Even better? The eucalyptus pulp used for SIJO bedding is exclusively from FSC and PEFC wood, meaning that it comes from sustainably managed forests.
  2. They’re Certified Allergy and Asthma Friendly. These sheets are TRULY hypoallergenic – they’ve been tested by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America!
  3. Perfect for hot sleepers. It’s not just how lightweight these sheets are; the moisture-wicking properties make them an absolute must-have when it comes to sweating at night.
  4. Free returns and exchanges within 30 days. 30 days feels like more than enough time to figure out if a set of sheets are right for you. Just in case these aren’t a perfect fit, you can send them back, no questions asked.
