I recently got my hands on a GreenPan Frost, and I’m obsessed.

This new countertop ice cream and frozen drinks maker by GreenPan, the forever chemical-free cookware company, has massively upgraded my kitchen game.

My family and I love ice cream, and eat it multiple times a week year-round. So I jumped at the chance to try out the Frost by Greenpan. My sister’s been wanting to try it, too, but it’s been sold out since launching in June 2025 (sign up here to preorder yours in time for the next drop, my sister’s already on the list!), so I felt lucky to have the chance to give it a test-drive.

This frozen treat maker stands out thanks to the instant gratification it provides. There’s no wait time and no need to balance bowls of ingredients precariously in the freezer for 24 hours. You just pour, push a button, and your treat will be ready just 15-30 minutes later to dispense soft-serve style by pulling down the charming fountain-style lever. Plus it looks so pretty on my kitchen counter. I got the fun light-green pistachio color, and it also comes in cream, berry (dark blue), and licorice (black).

It’s like having a 90s-style froyo shop, smoothie bar, old-fashioned soda store, and beachside frozen cocktail hut in your house all at the same time (but less crowded!).

My kids and I have got pretty into experimenting with the different modes and textures on the machine during the hot summer weather, testing out different recipes and picking our favorites. My daughter has a bunch of allergies, so customizing the ingredients is a big deal for us, and the Frost makes it stupidly easy.

Is it worth the splurge? If you crave on-demand soft serve, slushies, milkshakes, and frozen cocktails, 100%. For me, it’s quickly become my top kitchen gadget of all time, and I’d loathe the idea of living without it. Let me show you why.

Soft serve on demand, from day one

One of the things I love about the Frost is how creative you can get with your recipes, adding as many ingredients, flavorings, and toppings as your heart desires. You can swap out plain old milk for unsweetened plant mylk, or cocoa powder for protein powder. But my number one recipe? Creamy, dreamy vanilla soft serve made with whole milk, a splash of heavy cream, a little sugar, and vanilla extract. It tastes just like my childhood.

I’m secretly a big kid when it comes to my ice cream preferences, loving nothing more than a giant swirled cup of vanilla soft serve. But outside of fancy dessert shops, fast food places, and ice cream trucks, it’s not always easy to find a tasty, affordable swirl of goodness that isn’t packed with artificial flavors and fillers.

With GreenPan’s Frost, I have as much silky, customizable, on-demand soft serve as I can eat. It really feels like having an ice cream shop right in your own kitchen. It’s so easy to use, too. There are six different texture presets (for soft serve, I choose the ice cream one) and seven texture options ranging from soft and creamy to firm and thick. I mix up the ingredients, select my modes, pour it into the built-in freezer, and it churns for half an hour until it’s ready to swirl.

Accommodate dietary preferences and allergies

My daughter’s allergies make it hard to find treats she can enjoy safely, and she often feels left out at parties when she can’t eat what her friends can. The Frost has turned that into a non-issue.

It’s become my secret weapon for dairy-free, all-natural, low sugar treats that taste just as good, if not better than, the non-allergen friendly kind. The built-in chiller and churning mechanism means it freezes up pretty much anything into a bowl of delight my daughter wolfs down.

Last week, I made a homemade, dairy-free Dole Whip, my daughter’s favorite Disney dessert. With just frozen pineapple, frozen bananas, coconut yogurt, and the Frost sorbet preset, I whipped up a homemade sorbet that turned out cheaper and more nutritious than anything I can buy. And with the Frost, you can always have a second helping! The machine keeps your creations cool for hours, ready for bowl number two (or three, or four).

Having a gaggle of kids in my kitchen is all fun and games until they get hungry. But the Frost makes pleasing a crowd of preteens easy with its milkshake preset.

Shakes are delicious, but it can be hard to make enough for more than a couple of people in my average-sized blender. GreenPan has saved my bacon thanks to the Frost’s 68oz capacity, enough to make around eight frozen drinks in one go. And because you don’t have to wait for anything to freeze, I can start on another batch as soon as my kids’ ravenous friends have enjoyed their first round.

Healthy options made simple

It can be hard to find time or capacity to stay in shape and eat healthy as a mom, and it’s easy to fall prey to unhealthy snacks and junk food. The Frost’s smoothie function helped me take the first steps towards transforming my diet. Now, I start my mornings with a Frost-churned smoothie made with protein powder, nut butter, Greek yogurt, and fruit.

I admit it…I feel great when I start my day with a healthy smoothie, but even better when I finish it by sipping on an icy-sweet homemade espresso martini. When I have the book club girls over, they don’t let me rest until I set the Frost to mixing a big ol’ batch of frozen cocktails (in the summers, we make frose!). Luckily, it’s easy and fast to do.

The Frost works quietly away in the background (thank goodness, it’s not loud at all as it churns) while we talk about our book of the month and I keep an eye on the clear view bowl to check when our drinks are ready. There’s a chime that goes off too once the cycle has finished, but sometimes we’re gabbing too loud to hear it!

Easy cleanup and dishwasher safe

Once my family’s finished their frozen treat, cleanup is a snap. The first time I used the Frost, I was dreading the mountain of equipment and dishes I thought I’d have to scrub afterwards. Instead, there’s a quick and easy clean preset on the machine, and all removable parts are dishwasher safe.
